Though you have got a high-speed internet connection, you might not have a really fast download on bittorrent. In this tutorial we shall take a look at how to tweak Bittorrent settings to make maximum use of your internet connection  to download at higher speeds. This is really easy and this is sure to work. Tweak #1

open bittorrent and go to:

options -> preferences -> Advanced Options -> net.max_halfopen

change the value of net.max_halfopen to 80.

This configuration will change the number of max half-open TCP connections to 80.This is the most effective way of increasing bittorent speed.after this configuration has been changed, you can see your download speed increasing dramatically. Remember that after you update windows  you need to change this setting again as it is reverted back to 10 during the update

Tweak #2

After some really tough experiments I came up with these tweaks. After you have applied the following tweak, your bittorrent software is going to make the maximum use of your internet connection speed.

in the preferences window go to connection.

click on random port and uncheck the  randomize port at each start option. write down the port number that appeared after you clicked on random port.

Now go to your router settings page (normally 192.168.1.1 or just type in your ip address).

Go to Port Forwarding or Port Triggering.

Now add a new port forward with the following settings.

give a custom name to your port forward. Enter the Port Number that you had written down. Select
TCP and UDP from the list that pops out.

Tweak #3

This is basically a tip more than a tweak. Password protect your torrent downloads. This will keep your ISP from tracking your download which reduces the download speed.

These tweaks were tested successfully on a windows 7 computer with an internet speed of less than 1 MB/s. Before the test the max speed on bittorrent was around 30 kb/s and after the test we were able to achieve speeds of up to 90 kb/s. The file that was downloading was 4.36 GB.
